Windows 10 and 11 activation

Note: You need to open the Winows Virus Center (or whatever it’s called) and turn off “Real Time Protection” or it will keep deleting the file before you can double-click the damned thing. There a couple of options for activation (just double-click the file) and I generally choose the one that says something about “KMS”. Who knows? I really don’t know how they differ in terms of operation. But until the thing is activated you can’t even change the wallpeper

Things I Remove from Windows 11 in Vmware

I run Windows 11 in Vmware simply to tinker. In a virtual machine, and, with an older PC there are some things I remove to make the system run smoother. I don’t surf the web much and I might install a hacked program – I don’t want to tussle with Windows Defender. Also, I have no interest in Microsoft’s cloud backup service, OneDrive. Again, for me this is one more useless service that just bogs down the system.

Remove Windows Defender

Windows Defender does a respectable job of protecting your computer from viruses and malware. It’s free and included with modern versions of Windows. I simply do not need this sort of protection as I typically run Windows as a virtual machine, and, it slows the system down considerably. Here are various versions and based upon my experience all of them work the same – I am keeping all of them here for archival purposes but likely any of them should work all the way up to Windows 11.
